For a laser, inspect dross, edge taper, small-hole quality, and repeatability. For a press brake, check bend angle over multiple parts.
If the machine is old, ask for a warm-up before the test. Old bearings and guides can change dimensions after 30 minutes.

Final notes: common mistakes to avoid
Do not treat a used machine purchase like a commodity order. The lowest quote is not the best quote. The machine with the cleanest paint is not always the best machine. And the seller who lists all fees upfront, even if the total looks higher, usually costs less in the end.
Before you sign, check these three things:

The point of a checklist is to slow down when everyone wants to move fast. Buy based on the total cost, the service plan, and whether the machine will make your parts profitably. If you do that, you will get more value from your next Amada than if you chase a low price every time.
